Dual Lands

A Comprehensive guide, detailing lands that produce 2 colors of mana

Bounce lands

These lands, aka Karoo lands, enter the battlefield tapped and require you to return a land you control to its owner's hand. Individually each land taps for one of each of both colors of mana they produce.

Check lands

When these lands enter the battlefield, it checks to see if you control a land with either of the basic land types assocaited with either color it produces. If it finds another land, it comes into play untapped, otherwise it enters play tapped.

Depeltion Lands

These lands enter the battlefield untapped and tapping them adds a depletion counter to the land. While in your untap phase, if the land has a depletion counter on it, one counter is removed instead of untapping the land.

Dual lands

These lands come into play untapped and tap for two types of mana. These lands count as both basic lands types that they produce and are widely regarded as the benchmark for dual lands in the game.

Fast lands

These lands, aka Scar Lands, enter the battlefield untapped if you control two or fewer lands.

Fetch lands

Pay one life, tap and sacrifice these lands to fetch a land card with either of the two basic land types specified and put it onto the battlefield. These lands are very versatile when paired with any dual lands.

Fetch lands tapped

Similarly to the fetch lands above, though entering the battlefield tapped, these lands can be sacrificed to fetch a land card with either of the two basic land types specified and put it onto the battlefield.

Filter lands

These lands produce 2 mana (one each of differnt colors) by paying one generic mana and tapping.

Filter lands (Modern)

These lands tap for one colorless mana, or you can pay one mana of either mana it produces to get any combintation of those two colors of mana.

Gain lands

These lands enter the battlefield tapped and gain its owner one life.

The following lands are a different rarity of Gain Lands, but are not legal in Pauper.

Guildgates

These lands enter the battlefield tapped, and count as a land type "Gate". Certain cards such as Maze's End take into account the number of Gates a player controls.

Creature lands

These lands enter the battlefield tapped and tap for 2 different colors of mana. In addition to mana, these lands can be animated for a mana cost, obtaining creature-like abliities while remaining lands.

The following lands are the cycle of enemy colored creature lands and are legal in Standard until Spring 2017.

Pain Lands

These lands come into play untapped and tap to produce one colorless mana, and/or one colored mana of the types it produces while dealing 1 damange to its controller.

The following lands are the enemy cycle of Pain Lands and are legal in standard until Fall 2016.

Pain Tap-lands

These lands enter the battlefield tapped and tap to produce one colorless mana, and/or one colored mana of the types it produces while dealing 1 damange to its controller.

Scry Lands

These lands enter the battlefield tapped, and grant its controller a Scry 1. Each of these lands tap for 2 different types of mana.

Shadow Lands

When these lands enter the battlefield, it's controller may reveal a land of one of the two types it produces. If a land is revealed, the land comes into play untapped, otherwise these lands come into play tapped. Each of these lands tap for 2 different types of mana.

Shock lands

As these lands enter the battlefield, its controller may Pay 2 life to have the enter come into play untapped. If life is not paid, these lands enter the battlefield tapped. Each of these lands tap for 2 different types of mana.

Slow lands

These lands enter the battlefield untapped and tap for one colorless mana, and/or one colored of the types it produces. If these lands are tapped for colored mana, they do not untap during its controller's next untap phase.

The following are the allied cycle of Slow Lands, but are also legal in Modern.

Snow Tap-lands

These lands enter the battlefield tapped and tap to produce 2 different colors of snow mana. These lands also count as Snow lands, which are be relevent for cards such as Skred.

Storage lands

These lands enter the battlefield untapped and tap to produce on colorless mana. In addition to this these lands, at a cost of paying 1 colorless mana and tapping, can gain a storage counter. Then for 1 colorless mana, you can remove any number of storage counters and gain X mana in any combination of the colors it produces. Where X is the number of storage counters removed.

Tainted Lands

These lands enter the battlefield untapped and tap to produce one mana of either type if produces if its controller also controls a swamp.

Tango lands

These lands enter the battlefield tapped unless you control at least 2 basic lands. It's also important to note that these lands also count as two types of lands.

Tap lands

These lands enter the battlefield tapped and tap for on colored mana of the types it produces. The allied color lands are legal in Standard until Spring 2017, and the enemy pairs are legal until Fall 2017).

The following are another allied cycle of Tap Lands, and are not legal in Standard.

Tribal Tap-lands

These lands come into play tapped unless you reveal a creature card of the relevant type pertinent to the land, from your hand.

Miscellaneous

These lands are incomplete cycles, and/or unique in their abilities.

Enters the battlefield untapped, and taps for one colorless mana, and/or one red or green mana while giving each opponent 1 life.

This land enters the battle field untapped, and you can Pay 1 life and tap it for either a green or white mana. Additionally, you can pay 1 colorless mana, tap and sacrifice it to draw a card.

Enters the battlefield tapped, and taps to produce 1 colorless mana. For the cost of 2 colorless, tap and sacrifice it, you can search for a forest card and a plains card and put them onto the battlefield tapped.

This land enters the battlefield untapped, and taps for 1 colorless mana. You can also tap it for either a blue or white mana, if you control a land of the opposite type you are tapping it for.

This land enters the battlefield untapped and taps for 1 colorless mana. If this land is in your graveyead, any lands you control can be tapped for either green or white mana.

Entering the battlefield untapped, this land taps for blue mana if you haven't played a land this turn, if you have, it taps for black mana.
